Five African Sketches for Guitar (1991) is a clear example of my more mature style incorporating indigenous characteristics but in a definite Western mould. In the last movement called “Township Tonight” my penchant for dance rhythms comes to the fore and a type of “Kwela” in D major is heard. It is a challenging piece for the instrument.
